Carrie is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, and Certified Trauma Practitioner with a strong passion for helping individuals find peace and relief from their challenges and struggles in life. She is goal-driven and utilizes Family Systems Theory, Motivational Interviewing, EMDR, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, and Play Therapy/Expressive Arts interventions with both children and adults. Carrie often incorporates the use of a sand tray, Mandalas, and mindfulness exercises in her work, whether with a child, adult, family, or a couple. She has specialized training in the areas of trauma, attachment, mindfulness work, parenting, addiction, LGBTQI (specifically gender expansive/transgender individuals/children and parents of gender fluid/transgender children) and the use of non-traditional expressive therapies. She has also been trained in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics by Dr. Bruce Perry and completed her certification as a Trauma Practitioner through the National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children. She has advanced training in Sand Tray therapy and has completed EMDR training and is completing her certification hours with an EMDRIA-approved consultant. She utilizes EMDR with individuals and couples. She is certified as an AcuDetox Specialist through NADA to perform auricular acupuncture which can be helpful to treat trauma, anxiety, addiction/cravings, and overall stress management. She is currently completing a Transgender Care Therapist/Professional Board Certification program to support her experience and work with the trans* community. Carrie loves her work and wholeheartedly believes in the healing power of a trusting, collaborative, therapeutic relationship. She maintains close working relationships with other professionals in the community and actively provides individuals and families with referrals for supplemental and complementary services when deemed appropriate. Carrie has been honored three times in the past 4 years with a Best in Bedside Manner Award from Our Health Magazine. She was also one of three finalists for the Altria Rising Star Award through the National Association of Women Business Owners. This award is given to women who have demonstrated the ability to overcome adversity on their journey to success and who have made a visible impact in their industry or community.

Carrie enjoys providing clinical supervision to individuals seeking licensure as a Professional Counselor or who are pursuing their registration as a Play Therapist with the Association for Play Therapy. With a fully stocked play therapy room, as well as several outpatient offices filled with therapeutic resources, Carrie enjoys engaging supervisees in "experiential" supervision to help enhance confidence/skills and improve self-awareness as a clinician. Carrie has a non-dogmatic approach to supervision and views the supervisory relationship as one of mutual growth and respect. She also participates in a biweekly peer-consultation group with other licensed helping professionals to maintain and enhance her skills and to promote ongoing accountability for her clinical work.

In addition to providing therapy and supervision, Carrie also spends her time as a mother, writer, artist, and friend.
