Resident in Counseling
Niki’s passion for serving others is core to her being. Her counseling experience started when she volunteered helping at-risk youth, women and children in domestic violence situations. The focus of her work continued with helping college students and adults navigate life’s challenges and relationships. Niki completed her B.S. in Psychology and Nonprofit Studies. She then continued to graduate school, completing her M.A/Ed.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at James Madison University. She is currently completing her residency to become a Licensed Professional Counselor with the Virginia Counseling Board under the direct clinical supervision of Carrie Walker, LPC, RPT-S, CTP, ADS.
Niki works with children, teens, and adults who struggle with feelings of overwhelming worry and anxiety, loneliness, self esteem issues, and general unhappiness. She helps individuals who are faced with difficult decisions and tough circumstances. Niki supports individuals who are experiencing stress around body image, addiction, grieving a loss, or facing stressful changes like moves, college life or break-ups and divorce. Niki also works with each individual to explore their nutrition and general wellness goals. In addition to individual counseling, Niki also provides couples counseling to any couple struggling with relationship challenges. She utilizes the Gottman approach to couples counseling, drawing on their multiple decades of research into the foundations of a healthy and solid relationships.
Niki helps clients identify a way out of repeating, unhealthy dynamics. Individuals learn to more clearly understand their present situation, deepen their self awareness, and grow towards a more peaceful, meaningful and fulfilling life.
Niki follows the WPATH Standards of Care when working with individuals who are LGBTQI. She joins teens and adults who are LGBTQI in healing past wounds, facing overwhelming challenges, and moving towards a life of self-acceptance and joy.
