Carter is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over ten years of experience in the human services and mental health field. Carter’s clinical practice history includes acute psychiatric settings, working with youth with co-occurring mental health and substance use issues, intensive in-home and community-based work, as well as extensive work with children and young adults in the foster care system. Carter currently works with a variety of issues including, but not limited to, women’s issues, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, substance use/addiction, attachment, trauma, adoption, as well as with couples who are experiencing disconnection and conflict. Carter’s treatment modalities include Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, in addition to incorporating meditation and mindfulness into her therapeutic work. Carter has completed Levels I and II of EMDR training and is currently completing her hours towards EMDR certification.
When not working, Carter spends her time as a mother, traveler, lover of live music, and outdoor enthusiast.
