Donna is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with 30 years of experience as an RN prior to receiving her MSN at The University of Virginia. When Donna first decided to return for her graduate degree, she was most interested in becoming a therapist through the Certified Nurse Specialist program, but ultimately became a Nurse Practitioner when the CNS credential was phased out. Donna has experience working in both inpatient and outpatient, non-profit and private practice settings. She has taught and mentored Nursing students since 2008. She has experience with and enjoys working with a wide variety of psychiatric and mental health diagnoses, including (but not limited to): Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, Addiction, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. In 2017, Donna completed her NP-24 hour Buprenorphine waiver training and has worked part time in a Suboxone clinic supporting adults with opioid addiction. Donna is a person-centered, warm, and engaging prescriber who believes in each individual's innate capacity for healing when provided with the best possible supports and services. Donna works with adolescents and adults.
Donna will be accepting new patients in January 2019 and will be able to accept Anthem and Cigna insurance at that time. She will eventually accept Optima, Aetna, and Virginia Premier insurances when her credentialing process is complete.
