Kristel Thompson-Bush, LCSW (she/her)

Kristel (pronouns: she/her/hers) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). She works with adults of all ages and adolescents to address issues around trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, mood disorders such as bipolar disorder, domestic violence and relationship issues. Kristel is gender and LGBTQ+ affirming.

Kristel was trained in CBT for Depression & Suicidality at the Beck Institute for Cognitive Therapy. She enjoys facilitating bereavement groups that focus on helping clients to process loss and to honor loved ones.  Kristel is also a Mental Health First Aid instructor certified by the National Council for Behavioral Health. She has worked in mental health since 2006, providing individual and group therapy, behavioral health assessments, in-home therapy and crisis support in hospital, outpatient and community-based settings.

Kristel moved to Richmond from Queens, New York in 2017. She is a married mother of two children, and is also mom to a rescued “fur baby” Wheaten Terrier.  Kristel was born on the lovely island of Trinidad and speaks some Spanish. On her days off she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, traveling, dancing and listening to music.
