Matt is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has experience working with adults and adolescents presenting with a wide variety of concerns. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of Virginia, he earned a Master of Social Work from University of South Carolina. While attending University of South Carolina, Matt completed his clinical internship at Carolina Behavioral Therapy, a Dialectical Behavior Therapy focused private practice in Columbia, SC. Upon returning to Virginia, he began his professional career at one of the Nation’s premier residential treatment facilities for addictions. During this time, Matt earned a certification as an International Certified Gambling Counselor. Matt’s clinical interests include but are not limited to: depression/sadness, anxiety/worry, OCD, addictions, anger/impulse control, life transitions, and self-esteem/self-worth. Matt helps clients learn to manage and cope with thoughts, emotions, and behaviors using a combination of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Schema Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. One of Matt’s favorite quotes states “The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all”. During sessions, Matt provides a supportive environment to help clients push through struggles and grow to their full potential.
During his free time, Matt enjoys escape rooms, playing sports, and traveling around the world.
