Michael is a bilingual (Spanish) Licensed Professional Counselor, Board Certified Registered Art Therapist, Certified Substance Abuse Counselor, and Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider. Michael has been fortunate to have provided services to individuals and families in crisis within the confines of residential treatment and through community based services over the past few years. He is comfortable working with a wide range of individuals indiscriminate of age, gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, and social economic status, as well as Spanish speaking individuals. He enjoys utilizing art therapy, but is not one to press art therapy directives onto an individual who does not feel they would benefit from engagement in the process of art making in/through the course of therapy. He has worked with and is comfortable providing therapeutic services to individuals looking to process through trauma (past and present), mood disorders, psychosis, anxiety, ADHD, substance use, sexually reactive youth, embracing sexual orientation, gender issues, embracing one’s sex positive culture, relationship issues, cultural issues, and family issues. Humor is a part of his personality that often comes out in therapy and he has found it beneficial to utilize humor as a tool to break the awkward silence in many instances. He is open to being further educated and informed to work with other individuals who may present with different life circumstances that he may not have addressed/worked with previously to expand his ability to provide effective services to individuals. Michael works with children and adolescents ages 8+; teens; adults; and couples.
