Rachel is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and is passionate about partnering with young people to build resilience. She works with children, adolescents and families from a holistic, strengths-based perspective and believes in the transformative power of the supportive therapeutic relationship. Additionally, Rachel believes in the healing power of the creative process and incorporates a variety of trauma-informed expressive, art and play-based therapeutic interventions to support self-exploration, growth and healing. Rachel utilizes these therapeutic elements to support youth in exploring feelings related to trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, and self-esteem.
Rachel has completed her play therapy supervision hours and is currently working to complete coursework to become a Registered Play Therapist through the Association for Play Therapy. Additionally, Rachel has completed her certification as a Certified Trauma Practitioner through the National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children. She has extensive training and experience in the areas of trauma, grief and loss, expressive therapies and mindfulness. This Summer, after years of experiencing the personal benefits of yoga and breathwork, Rachel will begin working to obtain her certification as a Registered Yoga Teacher. She enjoys incorporating elements of mindful movement and deep breathing into her work with children.
When not working, Rachel enjoys taking advantage of all that Richmond has to offer and spends her free time running, kayaking, practicing yoga, and dabbling in the occasional art class.
