Andy Muth, LPC (he/ him)

am

Andy is a Licensed Professional Counselor who obtained his master’s degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2019. Andy uses mindfulness-based behavior therapies to help his clients work through difficult issues and barriers in their lives. Some areas that Andy specializes in are anxiety, OCD, work-related problems, addiction, autism spectrum disorder, and coping with disability. Andy is LGBTQIA+ competent and affirming and has experience working with clients to develop coping strategies for anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, stress management, and cooccurring mental health diagnoses. Prior to working at Richmond Creative Counseling, Andy has worked with populations in inpatient substance use treatment, community-based vocational counseling (supported employment) and residential support for people with intellectual disability.

Andy is a jack of all trades and before finding his path as a therapist he went though many different experiences with work. From environmental conservation, to carpentry, to building inspector, he’s had many different types of jobs. This experience developed Andy’s passion for helping people find their path in life, as he relates to this journey on a personal level. Through this trial-and-error Andy has developed perspective on what is most important to him: helping people to build peace and happiness in their lives.

Andy stays grounded by applying mindfulness practice in his daily life. With his free time, he enjoys being in nature, whether it be the mountains, the river, or the ocean. He also stays busy chasing around his toddler and two dogs.
