Background:
Shawn (he/him) received his Master of Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and is completing his residency and supervision hours to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Shawn spent the majority of his career working with children and adolescents who have experienced varying levels of familial abuse and neglect and has clinical experience working with individuals and groups who endure life stressors that can present challenges throughout the lifespan. Shawn spent considerable time working in mental health and social services before returning to school to complete his MSW. Shawn practices from a holistic, person-centered, and trauma-informed approach and incorporates Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing elements into his practice.
Shawn is LGBTQ+ affirming and an active advocate in the LGBTQ+ community. He has a passion for food and the outdoors and likes to spend his free time kayaking, camping, or dining out in local Richmond restaurants with his friends.
