Emma Rixmann, LCSW (she/her)

My clinical specialties are pain management, hospice and palliative care, complex disease management, and end-of-life planning. I enjoy working with young adults managing chronic illness, helping families find meaning through their illness journeys, and assisting others in maintaining their independence.

In my work, I often utilize frameworks such as Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Gottman Therapy. I tend to be solution-focused, employ psycho-education, and was trained in a highly medical model of social work.

When not “social working” I can be found on my farm in Amelia County training rescue horses, playing with my pitbulls, gardening, reading memoirs, attending Richmond festivals, or cooking.
