Background:
Lauren (she/her) is a graduate student pursuing her Masters in Clinical Social Work. Lauren spent several years working in the mental health field prior to going back to graduate school for Clinical Social Work. Lauren worked in various roles spanning from direct patient care to operations management in both Central Virginia and Austin, Texas. Lauren has experience working with individuals with severe depression, anxiety, and OCD. Lauren also has extensive experience working closely and collaboratively with psychiatric providers creating comprehensive treatment plans. Since 2021, Lauren has gained experience working directly with individuals living with HIV/AIDS tackling issues of coping with lifelong illness, sexual health, mental health, nutrition, substance abuse, and socioeconomic barriers. Lauren is experienced working with LGBTQ+ individuals and is supportive and affirming.
Lauren’s primary goal is to facilitate client self-exploration in a supportive and non-judgmental space. Drawing from various therapeutic approaches, Lauren strives to first understand things from the client perspective and then collaborate with clients to create goals for the time spent together. Lauren sees herself as a fellow traveler in a complicated and ever-changing universe and strives to help clients find
meaning on their journey.
When not working Lauren enjoys hiking, cooking, reading, mixed media art, playing and listening to music, and exploring new places.
