Hunter is a Licensed Professional Counselor who completed his training in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at James Madison University. Since entering the profession, Hunter has worked in the inpatient and partial hospitalization systems and has gained invaluable experience working with a broad range of mental health diagnoses. He has also developed an excellent clinical toolbox of community resources through networking and being on the front line of mental health services. Prior to obtaining his Master’s degree, Hunter worked as a mentor with children at a community counseling agency in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Hunter utilizes concepts from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing while working with clients who are struggling with a multitude of concerns. These concerns include but are not limited to depression, anxiety, stress management, career related concerns, substance abuse, men’s issues, and life transitions.
Hunter is interested in working with a diverse set of individuals and age groups. He is open to seeing teens and adults and provides individual, couples, family, and group counseling. Hunter also enjoys working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and is LGBTQIA affirming. Hunter believes that connection and support is vital to recovery and will be offering group therapy services in the near future.
