Addressing Grief & Loss in Play Therapy Trainer: Kimberly Hines, LCSW, RPT-S June 27th & 28th, 2025. 14 APT Contact Hours Learn about recognizing grief and loss issues in play therapy with exploration of theories, evaluative techniques, and play therapy interventions. Emphasis will be placed on issues of death/dying, pet loss, and natural disasters. Participants will: 1) Identify and describe the differences between trauma and grief as it relates to play themes in play therapy. 2) Identify various stages and expressions of grief and loss in play therapy. 3) Describe unique considerations when addressing death and dying in play therapy. 4) List the stages of play therapy when working with victims of natural disasters. 5) Demonstrate specific play therapy techniques and interventions to address grief and loss in play therapy. 6) Practice up to 8 play therapy interventions to address grief and loss in play therapy. 7) Identify the stages of grief in divorce as it relates to play expression in play therapy. 8) Practice and demonstrate documentation and ethical considerations when working with grief and loss issues in play therapy.
