Background:
Alyssa is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner with a counseling style focused on curiosity and compassion. Her approach is person-centered, trauma-informed, gentle, and supportive. She works to help clients build a felt sense of safety in the counseling room and relationship. She views clients as inherently resilient and the experts on themselves. Her hope is for clients to ultimately build capacity and enjoy a greater sense of vitality.
Alyssa believes that working towards multicultural competency, while knowing this is never a box we check as “complete”, is essential for her relationships with clients. Alyssa encourages clients to share anything about their cultural identity that feels important.
Alyssa’s experience includes working with adults with the following concerns: anxiety, depression, trauma (shock, attachment/developmental), self-worth and self-esteem issues, addiction, relationship issues, stage of life transitions, grief, and more. She has also worked extensively in the inpatient psychiatric and partial hospitalization settings.
