Background:
Hi, my name is Amanda Firestone (she/her) and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia. I received my Bachelor of Arts in 2013 and my Master of Social Work in 2014 from the Catholic University of America.
I want to provide a safe, supportive, and judgement-free environment for everyone who wants to begin or continue their therapy journey. I have a background in working with adolescents, young adults, and families in the home, the community, and the school system. In private practice, I have experience working with individuals suffering from anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, major life transitions, grief and loss, and ADHD. I also have personal and professional experience working with adoptees, adoptive families, and the LGBTQ community. I am an LGBTQIA+ affirming and competent clinician.
My approach to therapy is strengths-based and utilizes Psychotherapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques.
My goal as a therapist is to help those entering therapy set and obtain any personal goals they want to achieve and to give them the tools they need to be successful.
