Background:

Amy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist who has specialized in working with children, adolescents, adults, and families for over 10 years. Her background and experiences include work in the public school systems, child welfare systems (child protective services, adoptions, and foster care), private counseling center for adolescents and families, therapeutic recreational services, intensive in-home counseling, and an emergency diagnostic residential facility. Amy has gained experience working with children and adults who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, loneliness, grief & loss, divorce, single parenting, parenting challenges, job loss, domestic violence, substance abuse, and crisis situations. She also has experience supporting women through the specific loss of miscarriage and birth trauma and has completed her certificate through PostPartum Support International in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders.

Amy is passionate and committed to helping and working collaboratively with individuals and families towards goal driven and personalized care. She focuses on utilizing a holistic therapeutic approach which encompasses the whole person including physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social, and environmental aspects. Amy also concentrates on the strengths of individuals and works with individuals towards self-empowerment and stress reduction. She provides individual, group, and family therapy services and interventions utilizing a wide range of treatment modalities such as psychodynamics, strengths based supportive therapy, crisis intervention, cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and family systems theory. She also incorporates aspects of play, music, mindfulness, art, diet, nutrition, exercise, and EMDR. Amy practices strong ethics and she has a great commitment to the helping profession. She advocates for individual needs and utilizes community resources in order to support individuals and families. Amy welcomes feedback, suggestions, and treating the treatment plan as an evolving strategy and intervention. She believes in continuing education, learning, and growth at any age or life circumstance. Amy has completed Levels I and II of EMDR training.
