Background:

Ari Laoch (R-ee Lay-Awk), he/they is a Virginia Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and LPC-supervisor, a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). Ari received his Master of Science in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling (2017) and his PhD in Health Related Sciences: Rehabilitation Leadership (2025) from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Ari’s counseling work is empowerment-based, working through, with, and around trauma, be that systemic/historical, chronic, and/or single event-based. He works well with folx who may meet criteria for personality disorders, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, ADHD, and those navigating identity development. Counseling is approached with an awareness of intersectional identities through an anti-oppression lens to move toward liberation and authenticity.

When collaborating with Ari, the counseling process may include evidence-based assessments, knowledge and information gathering, bearing witness to personal narrative, and building an alliance alongside laughter and a pinch of cussing.

Ari has had the privilege to work with many folx. Experience includes:
LGBTQIA+ and SGL community members, including persons seeking Gender Confirming Surgery letters.
Persons who want to discuss their substance use, addiction, harm reduction, and/or sobriety.
Having met criteria for a personality disorder.
Adults seeking a polyamorous and/or kink affirming and knowledgeable provider.
