Background:

Hi, I’m Deidra (she/her). I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I’ve been supporting individuals and families through life’s challenges for over a decade. I work with adults, young professionals, and families who may be navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and women’s issues. I’m especially passionate about helping women of color manage the many stressors they face. I also enjoy providing a confidential and therapeutic space for therapists and counseling students to pursue their own healing.

In therapy, my approach is trauma-informed and holistic—meaning, I see and care for all parts of you: mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, and social. I also take into account the overlapping impact of systems like racism, fatphobia, gender oppression, classism, and other systemic issues. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and offer a body inclusive space that is built on the principles of HAES, anti-shame work, and intuitive eating. To best support you, I use a variety of evidenced based approaches to include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Problem-Solving Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and EMDR.

When we work together, you can expect care that is personable, educational, and professional. I am passionate about guiding others on their journey towards healing, light, and renewal, and I consider it an honor to walk alongside my clients in this process.

Outside of the therapy room, I’m a Clinical Director at Richmond Creative Counseling and a group facilitator with Wild Oaks (our intensive outpatient program for adults with eating disorders). For those interested in clinical supervision, I am also a board approved supervisor with the Virginia Board of Social Work.

In my personal time, I enjoy deepening my knowledge of spirituality, reading and researching, and—most importantly—winning Grammys in the shower and the car.
