Emily Burkholder, MEd

Emily (she/her) is a Resident in Counseling with a Master's degree in Relational, Marriage, & Family Counseling from William & Mary. She is passionate about helping people accomplish their hopes and goals in/for counseling. She holds the belief that every person already contains within them the tools they need to accomplish the healing they are searching for, and looks forward to walking alongside clients in their journey! Emily utilizes an integrative theoretical approach to counseling that is tailored to fit the needs of each individual client or clients. She has experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma, sexual violence, exploration of self/identity, navigating life transitions, values work, and navigating relational challenges in their lives, but is open to working with any presenting concern! Emily also has experience working with relationships/relationship concerns, families, and with children through both a talk and play-therapy based approach.


Emily is trained in Brainspotting, Trauma-Informed Yoga, yoga for survivors of sexual violence, polyvagal theory, and child-centered play therapy, as well as in various forms of relational and family counseling. Emily also enjoys integrating a holistic, integrative approach to counseling. Emily enjoys working with clients from diverse backgrounds, is LGBTQ+ and trans affirming, and is committed to recognizing the role of systems of oppression.
