Background:
Evan (He/Him) is a graduate student working towards a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work at Virginia Commonwealth University. Evan received his bachelor's degree in English in 2024, while minoring in Creative Writing and Psychology. With this background, he is passionate about integrating creative expression and mindfulness-based techniques into his therapeutic practice.
Evan relies on various interventions, including Internal Family Systems Therapy (parts work), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and narrative therapy, to validate, empower, and create a safe space for clients to become the authors of their own stories. Additionally, Evan has a special interest in focusing on somatic work for trauma in the body while highlighting the significance of the mind, body, and spirit connection to promote a deeper connection to oneself and others.
Evan also believes that nature is the best teacher and healer, while emphasizing the importance of creating a care plan that focuses on therapeutic approaches that meet the needs of his clients and making time to proactively spend time in nature to create a more profound experience with the world around us. He is also LGBTQIA+ affirming and focuses on anti-racist and anti-colonialist frameworks for healing and well-being.
When not at work, Evan enjoys going to the gym, hiking, practicing yoga and Qigong, cooking, writing, meditation/prayer, and watching films. He also loves spending time with his siblings, goddaughter, and his partner, and their two dogs, Octavia and Piccolo.
During his internship at Richmond Creative Counseling, LLC, Evan will be under the clinical supervision of Kristin Dahland, LCSW.
