Background:
Julie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with special training and certifications in substance use, couples and co-parenting work. She has over 20 years of experience in the mental health field, including hospital, residential, community based, and private practice settings. Julie also provides supervision for licensure and has supervised interns and worked as a field liaison and adjunct professor for the MSW program at VCU.
Julie meets clients where they are, using solution focused and person centered strategies, incorporating Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Structural Family Therapy. She has experience working with bipolar, ADHD, mood, parenting, co-occurring, borderline personality, and anxiety issues.
Julie is passionate about helping individuals through life transitions, substance use, couples/family work, and LGBTQ+ issues. Julie provides couples therapy for individuals at any stage in their relationship, including working with polyamourous individuals, affair recovery, kink, premarital work, parenting issues, and couples and families who are separating/divorced. Julie also has extensive work with the LGBTQ+ community, especially working with individuals who identify as questioning, queer, gender-expansive, and transgender. She can assist individuals navigating transitions, including family work, medical treatments, and surgeries.
When Juile is not working, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, playing games, staying active, and enjoying the outdoors.
