The most important thing about therapy is that you feel comfortable talking about what is going on in your life. I believe the process of therapy can be valuable for everyone trying to navigate the challenges we face. My approach is supportive, interactive, direct, non-structured and laid back. I place a lot of importance on building/maintaining rapport in the therapeutic relationship.

Melissa has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for 11 years. In her career she has enjoyed helping people with many different experiences, backgrounds and challenges. She uses a strength-based, trauma-informed
approach in all her work incorporating various modalities based on what suits the client she is serving. Melissa primarily uses tools and techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused and mindfulness-based approaches in pursuing her clients’ goals in treatment. Melissa genuinely enjoys helping teens and adults find ways to effectively cope with difficult emotions and challenging life circumstances.

Melissa has 30 years of experience working with people of all ages in primarily non-profit organizations. She has served clients in San Diego CA, Philadelphia PA, rural Kentucky, and Richmond VA. She has also done consultation work with community and government organizations across the country to help them improve their services to kids and families.
