Background:

Morgan Vaughan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and is currently in supervision towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist. Morgan enjoys working with young children, adolescents, and caregivers/adults around a variety of issues to include complex trauma, attachment issues, ADHD/school based concerns, life changes, anxiety, and more. She operates from a strengths-based, client centered, and trauma informed approach when working with children, families, and young adults. She is also LGBTQIA+ affirming and works to provide a comfortable, supportive environment for all clients and their families. Morgan enjoys using both directive and non-directive play therapy approaches, to include expressive therapies and sand tray therapy, to allow children to explore their world, communicate their needs, and 'work through' a variety of different presenting concerns through play, which play therapists collectively understand as a child's way of communicating. She enjoys working closely with caregivers to strengthen communication and caregiver needs for a variety of presenting problems.

Morgan previously worked as a school-based child and family therapist in an elementary school in Richmond Public Schools for the past 2 years, and enjoys working closely with children and their families to improve child and family functioning and well-being across all settings. Prior to that, she served as a school social worker and has extensive knowledge of disabilities and developmental concerns as they relate to schools/school functioning for children/adolescents and the IEP process. She is passionate about meeting children and their families where they are to support them through whatever challenges they may be facing. Additionally, Morgan enjoys working with teens and college-aged students to support life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief/loss concerns, or other significant life events and presenting needs.
