Background:
Pam received her Bachelors in Psychology and Master of Social Work from VCU and then pursued her LCSW. She has 15 years of experience in the field of mental health which have ranged from work in settings of inpatient, outpatient, schools, and the community with people of all age ranges and backgrounds. Pam incorporates a variety of methods and frameworks into her practice, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, CBT, attachment theory, trauma informed interventions, and expressive arts modalities to support clients on their healing journey. Pam strives to approach each client with unconditional positive regard to create a warm, collaborative, encouraging, and non-judgmental space where clients feel safe.
Pam has extensive experience working with survivors of childhood trauma, domestic violence, narcissistic abuse, shame and attachment wounds, neglect, and with children in the foster care system. Her work with children has a focus on strengthening the quality of attachment between a child and caregiver. She uses interventions of play, art, sand tray, emotion regulation, or expressive modalities. She provides treatment for a variety of symptoms, diagnoses, or psychosocial stressors to include children or teens with ADHD or autism spectrum disorders, emotional or behavioral issues, divorce, trauma, anxiety, self-harm, or depression. She welcomes adults with borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety, individuals who are exploring sobriety or have substance use issues, mood disorders, self-esteem, relationship issues, trauma, and those with stage of life or identity issues. Pam has worked in roles as direct clinician, clinical supervisor, DBT skills group lead, substance use IOP group facilitator, ADOS2 assessor (allowed her to administer and interpret diagnostic assessments for Autism), and as clinical manager during her career thus far. She provides therapy to children (ages 3+), adolescents, and adults across the lifespan. Pam enjoys taking her high energy dog on adventures, meditating, being silly with friends or family, spending time in nature, and going to the beach.
