Robert Lester, MEd

Robert (he/him) is a dual Resident in Counseling and Marriage & Family Therapy.

Seeking therapy takes courage, and Robert believes that healing begins with feeling seen, heard, and understood. He provides therapy for adolescents (12+), adults, couples, and families who are looking to better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and create lasting change. His approach draws from psychodynamic therapy and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), allowing clients to explore both the deeper experiences that shape their lives and ways to develop greater compassion toward themselves. CFT can be especially helpful for those who struggle with self-criticism, shame, or feeling that they are never quite “enough.” Robert works collaboratively with clients to develop a kinder, more compassionate relationship with themselves while building the tools needed to navigate life’s challenges.

Robert works with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, grief, trauma, or questions surrounding identity and self-worth. Additionally, he recognizes that our experiences are shaped not only by our individual histories but also by the families, communities, social structures, and environments in which we live. He strives to understand these systemic influences and how they may affect a person’s sense of self, relationships, and emotional well-being.

When not at work, Robert enjoys reading at coffee shops, exercising, traveling and experiencing different cultures, and taking walks with his golden retriever, Gladys.
