Background:

Sarah (she/her) is one of our Clinical Directors as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor who is committed to helping individuals and couples achieve their personal goals and overcome their life challenges. She has worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families for over 15 years. Her background and experiences include work in the public school systems, private counseling, and community behavioral health. Sarah has worked with clients from diverse backgrounds who have experienced trauma, grief and loss, divorce, single parenting, job loss, relationship struggles, aging challenges, and domestic violence. Sarah views counseling as a partnership with the client to draw on their strengths and capabilities towards finding happiness and contentment. She incorporates a holistic therapeutic approach that honors the whole person including their physical, mental, spiritual, and social health. Sarah is trained in and utilizes the treatment modalities of Structural Family Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, EMDR, and Play Therapy/Expressive Arts. She has been trained through the Gottman Institute and specializes in working with couples and families. She also has a special interest in supporting women through the loss of miscarriage, the disappointment associated with not having the birth experience one expected, and fertility issues. She has completed a Certificate in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders through Postpartum Support International. Sarah is fully trained in EMDR and utilizes it with individuals and couples. Sarah is also trained as a professional Divorce Mediator and can facilitate Divorce Mediation, as well as mediating child custody and parenting issues.

In addition to counseling, Sarah enjoys spending her time as a mother, wife, home cook, avid reader, and nature admirer. She is also a birth doula.
