Background:
Sonja Paviour (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who partners with clients to increase insight into the etiology of their problems as well as their strengths, and to harness those strengths to tackle barriers to change. Sonja has worked for nearly ten years in the non-profit setting with survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual violence and human trafficking as well as members of the Latinx community (¡habla español!). Her therapeutic approach is rooted in an understanding of trauma over the lifespan and draws from psychodynamic theory, parts work, EMDR and TF-CBT. As a clinician, Sonja believes in the importance of self-awareness, humor and the development of a common language with clients.
Sonja is an LGBTQIA+ competent and affirming provider and especially enjoys working with members of the Queer community and folks from other parts of the world. In her free time, she is reading and immediately forgetting novels, watching both slow international dramas and reality dating shows, and cooking with friends and family.
